The water tank (emptied out), a duplicate of the city (flowing in)
Montehermoso, Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2012
Part of the exhibition In the Belly of the Whale (Act III) curated by Rosie Cooper and Ariella Yegdar; presented under the name Winnie Cott.
A network of streets, represented by washing lines strung between pillars, cut through the exhibition space. Dripping-wet sheets and scattered puddles recall the building’s previous function as a water tank for the surrounding city: the water has drained away but the streets have been washed in. Like children dressing up and playing at being a fireman or a teacher, the city here is re-performed.
